Olympic Athletes --- Their Quest for Victory and Excellence

When you were young, did you ever dream of one day representing your country in the Olympics? Some of the best and most respected athletes and Olympic champions actually started their path to success by dreaming. How did they achieve their dreams?

Athletes and Olympic champions know how to control their emotions, specifically their fears. An athlete’s ideal competitive state requires him to be confident, courageous, energetic, and relaxed. If an athlete allows himself to drown in his fears, he will not be able to achieve a balanced state of his physical and mental being.

A successful athlete makes discipline his way of life. He practices and trains on a regular basis and applies moderation in almost all aspects of his life, especially with regard to his diet, alcohol consumption, and partying with friends. He must also rigorously follow a physical fitness program that will make him physically fit for his sport or event. To be able to do all these, an Olympic champion has to be dedicated to his sport.

An athlete’s self-confidence will help him practice self-respect, which is even more important to a competitive Olympic player.

Patience is also a golden virtue required of all successful athletes and Olympic champions.

Best of all, a successful athlete knows that the measure of his success is not his popularity or monetary gains; rather, true success is measured by an athlete’s ability to come up with a consistently high level of performance even when he is faced with difficult challenges. A successful athlete rises above the occasion and embraces defeat with his head held high.
